Aikido
Aikido was developed by Morihei
Ueshiba who is
pictured in the photo to the right. For those of you who
don't know, Aikido is well known as a "non-aggresive" martial
art. Aikido practitioners general "blend with the
energy" of an attacker. Really, this is better understood by
observation rather than description. Indeed, the concepts of
Aikido are best understood by participation.
The art is generally considered to be a
"soft" art. Don't be mistaken by the term
"soft"... ...for an excellent "demonstration" of
Aikido watch the liquor store "robbery" scene early in the
Steven Seagall movie "Marked for Death". Nevertheless,
for most practitioners the most important part of the art is the
emphasis on non-violence. |
